A properly functioning drainage system is the key to your home’s plumbing anatomy. Here are a few common residential plumbing problems that can cost you thousands of dollars:

  • Overflowing gutters and downspouts. Gutter systems are a primary tool on the exterior of homes it deters runoff away from your home’s foundation. The system can’t do its job if it’s  clogged or misplaced. A clog leads to standing water or pushback of water towards the property.
  • Grade issues. If pooled water around the home is a common concern you could have a grading issue. The home’s foundation should be graded in a way that encourages water to flow away from the home.
  • Water clogged Soil. Poor drainage leads to water-clogged soil. This happens when the soil
  • becomes oversaturated causing many plumbing problems.
  • Flooding. If the water doesn’t come from an appliance like the septic tank it could be from outside standing water that leaks in your home. If the water isn’t moving away from your home it’ll inevitably soak through the foundation into the basement.

Be on the lookout for these common plumbing problems.
